“Recessed shell bits can be inset into the ship’s hull well above the water line, so that they do not protrude in any way”
Recessed Shell Bitts are manufactured to be used essentially on vessels using the Panama and Suez Canal, or where the rope needs to be attached to a ship’s hull without any protrusion.
Overview:
The shell bitts are inset into the ship’s hull well above the water line and are also ideal for mooring to harbour vessels alongside, used during transfer from one cargo vessel to another, or at static mooring facilities.
The units are cast from high quality steel utilising a variety of specific grades dependant on the particular application and loading and come in 3 sizes- 25te/50te and 100te.
Recessed shell bits can be supplied with a primer painted or galvanised finish.
Lifting & Marine Services Limited provides a wide range of recessed shell bitts in a variety of sizes to suit your particular needs, which are ready for immediate installation. Please refer to the technical datasheets below which you are free to donwload in PDF file format.
